How Much Does a Wood Privacy Fence Cost in Lexington, SC?

The cost of a wood privacy fence in Lexington, SC comes down to the length of the line, the height, the style, the number of gates, the ground and whether an old fence has to come out first. Nobody can give you a real number for a fence until they have seen the yard. We do not publish a price per foot, because a price per foot would be wrong for most yards. What we can do is tell you what moves the number, so you know what you are comparing when the quotes come in.

How much fence you need

Footage is the biggest piece. Every foot of fence is posts, rails, boards and labor, so a longer run costs more. Corners matter too. A plain rectangle goes up faster than a yard with a lot of jogs, because every corner is another heavy post and another layout decision.

How tall it is

Six feet is the usual privacy height, and eight feet is available. Taller means more material and stronger support. Your town or HOA may cap the height, so check before you settle on a number.

Which style you pick

A standard privacy fence with solid boards side by side is the simplest build. Shadowbox, board on board, cap and trim and arched or scalloped tops all take more material or more labor, and they look it. The extra detail is often what makes a fence feel finished, so it is worth deciding what you actually want to see from the patio.

Pressure treated pine and cedar both make good fences. They look different, age differently and are priced differently. Ask to see both at the walk.

How many gates, and how wide

Most yards need at least one gate. A walk gate costs less than a wide double drive gate for a mower or a trailer. Every wood gate we build has a steel tube frame, and wide or heavy gates hang on steel pipe posts so they do not sag. That is part of why a wide gate adds to the number.

What the ground does

Slope, trees and tight access all add time. So does hard ground. Rock, roots and old concrete slow a post hole down. When holes take well over double our normal time, we document it and send it to you, and we talk about it up front if we already know the ground is rough. We walk the yard before we quote it so surprises get solved before you sign.

Taking out the old fence

If a fence is coming down first, tear out and haul away is part of the job and gets its own line on the proposal. How big the old fence is, what shape it is in and how easy it is to reach all change how long it takes.

Permits and approvals

The homeowner pulls any permit, and our contract says so. If your HOA wants a drawing or an approval first, tell us early so we can plan around it. Waiting on a letter is easy to handle. Finding out halfway through is not.

Comparing two quotes

Two quotes are only comparable if they cover the same fence. Check the height, the style, the type of wood, how many gates and what kind, whether tear out is included, and who pulls the permit. Ask whether there is a certificate of insurance. Every proposal we write carries one.

Wood versus vinyl comes up a lot. Vinyl usually costs more up front than a basic wood fence, but it never needs staining or sealing. Wood costs less to start and asks for some upkeep. The right answer depends on how long you plan to stay and how much weekend work you want. You can read more on our wood fences page.

Upkeep after the build

Wood is a natural material, and sealing or staining helps protect it from sun and rain. That upkeep is part of the real cost of owning a wood fence, so think about it now rather than in year three. Ask us what to expect at the estimate, and we will tell you straight. Wood fences from us carry a one year workmanship warranty and a tune up visit in the first year.

What happens after you ask

You reach out by phone, text or the form and tell us about the yard. We walk the property, measure the fence lines and go over the options. You get a clear written proposal that spells out the fence, the gates and the price. Most installs take one to three days, and we clean up and walk the fence with you before we leave.

Getting your number

The fastest way to a real number is to send us the form or call 803-609-9760. We set up a time to walk the yard, measure the lines and go over styles, gates and options with you. Then you get a clear written proposal.
