About This Fence
A driveway gate has to be bigger and tougher than any other part of a fence. This West Columbia gate is a wood double drive gate that spans the full width of the driveway, with black strap hinges on both leaves and a latch at the center, and wood fence wings that tie into the brick corner of the house on one side and a flowering tree on the other.
Driveway gates get the heaviest frames and posts we build. A wood gate has a steel tube frame, so the boards hang on something that will not sag, and wide gates hang on steel pipe posts. Double drive gates run eight, ten or twelve feet wide, with a drop rod to hold one side closed. Wood moves with the weather, and a wood gate can be adjusted as it does. Tell us what has to fit through and we will size the opening.
